Gabriel’s Promise was started because of a promise made by Gabriel Atem Wal, one of the Lost Boys of the Sudan, to 11 of his nieces & nephews living a very tough existence in Kitale, Kenya. Gabriel was one of the lucky ones who made it out of incredible poverty and picked to come to the US for the new life. Gabriel knew the only way out of poverty for the children left behind was a good education. So Gabriel challenged the 11 children that whoever made over a B average he would get into boarding school there in Kitale, Kenya.

What Gabriel didn’t forsee was 11 eleven meeting the challenge. Now Gabriel had a promise to keep as a full time college student and working 40 hours a week at a full time job at Catholic Charities he didn’t have the money or time to raise it to pay for 11 children in boarding school. So he took the problem to his church small group and the Gabriel’s Promise Program was born. All 11 are now in boarding school and Gabriel now needs your help to continue meeting the challenge of bringing these children a better life and opportunity for the future.

Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means.
